Welcome to the FILA Junior/FILA Cadet Wrestling Web Page

This site is operated by the Silverbacks Wrestling Club of Mira Mesa as a courtesy to San Diego wrestlers.  The site's purpose is to provide FILA Junior and FILA Cadet level wrestlers information on tournaments.  I'm sure its scope will change as it evolves.

SDWA and SIDIKWA

Neither the San Diego Wrestling Association (SDWA) nor the San Diego-Imperial Kids Association  wrestle FILA Jr or FILA Cadet divisions at the local level.

2007 SDWA Fall Schedule

SAN DIEGO WRESTLING ASSOCIATION
Sometimes events beyond our control cause changes or cancellations in the schedule.
It's always good to check the schedule each week (Friday night) to see if there are any changes.

CHANGES FOR THE FALL:

There have been a number of changes in what will be wrestled in the Fall.  Here's a synopsis of what has been decided and what is still in discussion:

  • midgets, novice, schoolboy, cadet, and junior divisions  will wrestle FOLKSTYLE

  • open and veterans divisions will wrestle FREESTYLE and GRECO-ROMAN

  • undecided yet is whether we will sanction SOMBO. (Update: It takes a change in the by-laws and 2 meetings to sanction Bantams and Sombo.  We voted last night to to put it on the agenda at our next meeting to approve the change.  The change would allow the president to sanction Bantams and Sombo if he chooses. Next meeting is 9/11/2007.)

  • undecided yet is whether we will sanction BANTAMS.

  • the schedule will include one or more tournaments in the mid county area.  Mira Mesa is committing to doing one, and we would like to have some other clubs step up.

  • the schedule may start slightly earlier in the Fall to accommodate more tournaments.

SCHEDULE:  We'll post the schedule for the Fall season when it's finalized.

TENTATIVE FALL SCHEDULE: The schedule is being "pencilled in".  If you want to hold a tournament in the fall, please contact Dick Malliet at: Rmalliet@nethere.com.   Eastlake and Carlsbad are currently possibilities.

You can see what this will look like.  Just have a small sequence from Nationals with Kerry McCoy and Steve Mocco a couple of year's ago.  Run it as a slideshow at 3 seconds to see the move.
